Corrigendum
for the book:
The Theory of the Moiré Phenomenon

In spite of all proofreading efforts, printing errors and typos still remain unavoidable. This book is no exception to this rule.

In this page we provide a list of corrections for the main typos and printing errors detected in the original edition of the book, published in March 2000 by Kluwer. These (and other) corrections have been incorporated in the second, revised edition of Vol. I, now being published by Springer.

Note that in general, the eye automatically selects as the most prominent moiré the
locus of intersection points in which the density of crossing points is the greatest; in

(*) Note that the modified version of formulas (2.10) and (2.11) takes into account the positive or negative direction of the moiré. While this distinction may seem superfluous in the simple case of cosinusoidal or binary gratings, it becomes important in more complex cases such as the superposition of sawtooth gratings or 2D dot-screens. The direction of the moiré as expressed by the modified formulas can be also easily verified by sketching a spectral vector diagram (see, for example, Figs. 2.8, 2.11 and 4.8 in the book).
